One year removed from his spectacular Rookie of the Year campaign, Derek Jeter began to firmly establish himself as a premier big leaguer in 1997 when he wore this American Baseball Cap Company New York Yankees batting helmet. The 1997 model looks almost like an antique when it's compared with today's modern space age designs and does not contain nearly as much padding as the newer models. This 7/14-inch size helmet was manufactured in April of 1997 and displays light use with some white paint marks, assorted scuffs and a small amount of pine tar stains on its top. Helmet is constructed of the same high impact ABS plastic used today, but with interior foam padding on the left ear flap, back and top of head. The ABC manufacturer's logo with MLB logo is affixed to the back under Jeter's number "2" white sticker. Jeter went onto sign the helmet in bright silver felt tip pen on the top of its bill, under the Yankees interlocking NY logo decal. Helmet has "American Baseball Cap, Media, PA 19063 7 1/2 Made in USA" sticker, a "Warning" label and "manufacturer's flaws and marks" disclaimer sticker adhered to the inside with an MLB Authentic Diamond Collection sticker on the underside of its bill. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA) for the signature and from Jahn Taube of JT Sports and PSA/DNA for the game use.
