The first President and Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army has signed this SCARCE Continental Army discharge, dated February 9th, 1785 and measuring 8" x 10", "Go. Washington". This choice Revolutionary war discharge reads in part: "These are to certify that the bearer hereof William Wheeler in the 2nd New York Artillery being inlisted for the War only, is hereby discharged from the American Army." Washington has signed in the middle and the document has been countersigned by several others. The document exhibits some moderate see-through from writing on verso along with some rough edges and fold lines typical to documents of the age. Housed in a beautiful 8" x 10" museum-quality binder. Impressive! Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from Beckett/BAS.
