David Ortiz played his final regular season game on October 2nd, 2016, ending his career with an incredible 541 home runs and three World Series titles with the Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox combined. Unlike most sluggers, "Big Papi" maintained tremendous output until his very last game, finishing his final season with 38 home runs and leading the American League in RBI, doubles, and slugging percentage. Like the man himself, Ortiz game used items have become a collector favorite over the years. Once he became a member of the 500 Home Run Club in 2015, the gregarious slugger became a necessary component to any collection founded on the exclusive group. Sprinkle in the fact that Ortiz helped break the "Curse of the Bambino" by helping bring three World Series titles to Boston, and one could say that his game used items - be it a bat or a jersey - are in high demand. It is highly likely that he will become the first designated hitter to make it into the Hall of Fame. Offered here is a Majestic Red Sox jersey used by Big Papi in the 2008 season, in which he finished the season with 23 home runs, 89 RBI, and a .264 batting average. He was also named to his fifth All-Star team. The jersey shows light use with wear consistent to other Ortiz jerseys. The size 54 tag is applied to the tail and all other appropriate tagging is present. Ortiz has gone onto sign the reverse number in silver felt tip marker. The jersey is accompanied by irrefutable provenance, with a MEARS grade of A-10, a Letter of Authenticity from Steiner Sports, and an MLB hologram affixed.
