Robert E. Lee secured his fame/notoriety as the commander of the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia during the Civil War in 1862-65, engaging in heated battles with Union forces. He bore only three stars as a General, equivalent to his last U.S. Army rank, the only member of the first five full Generals to not tote the general's insignia. Offered here is a tremendous carte-de-visite portrait of the Confederate General, signed in the bottom portion "R. E. Lee." Overall in fine condition with light toning. Authenticated by Beckett Authentication Services (BAS) with a full Letter of Authenticity.
