During the 1960's, the race to land the first man on the moon was front and foremost in the minds of the American and Russian governments. While each space program had their fair share of setbacks, the United States space program took its biggest step at 4:18 p.m. ET, on July 20, 1969. In the area of the moon known as "The Sea of Tranquility" the Apollo lunar lander touched down on the surface of the moon. Fans standing for the National Anthem at Yankee Stadium cheered, while across the ocean in London, England the broadcasters announce, "The American's have done it!" That moment defined the end of the turbulent 1960's as America emerged as the winner in the race to the surface of the moon. Offered for the first time un-personalized is this stunning glossy 16" x 20" NASA color photo of the Apollo 11 crew, signed in massive black felt tip marker by Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin & Michael Collins. This extraordinary offering stands as one of the only known over-sized 16" x 20" formats signed by all three members of the Apollo 11 mission that in un-personalized. The photo itself exhibits some scattering surface impressions & light handling wear towards the edges, none of which detract from the images tremendous visual appeal. Simply one of the best Apollo 11 relics we have ever offered. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from Beckett/BAS.
