The ONLY Madonna authentically signed in-house award that we have ever encountered!
Here is an impossibly rare original 1998 Warner Bros. Records In-House Award for Madonna’s critically acclaimed album, “Ray of Light”. The award was presented to the relative of a Warner Bros. executive shortly after the album was released. In-house awards are supremely rare, and virtually non-existent when signed by the artist. Given Madonna’s extreme reluctance as a signer, it’s evident that this was done as a friendly gesture for an important studio executive. Indeed, the overwhelming majority of Madonna signed pieces are either secretarial or professional forgeries. The award boasts a beautiful large signature penned in black felt tip. The framed award measures 19.5" x 25.5” and is in excellent condition.
Released two years after the birth of her first child, Lourdes, “Ray of Light” with its ambient, techno-influenced sound is the experimental foundation for musings on motherhood, spirituality, and the overwhelming realization that we are all but tiny, insignificant particles floating around in an infinite universe trying to carve out a meaningful existence. The beautiful thing about “Ray of Light” is that it does what a successful pop album is supposed to do: commit to one aesthetic, explore that set of principles from several unique angles, and never lose its sense of cohesion. As well as featuring the most personal songwriting of her career, her collaborations with William Orbit resulted in some of the most beautiful, and soaring pop production of the decade. To this day, “Ray of Light” is considered one of Madonna’s most beloved albums.
