This Finest Example of a Signed Stones Guitar We’ve Encountered!
Here is a spectacular Fender Stratocaster Sunburst guitar signed by all four members of the Rolling Stones in black marker. Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, and Ronnie Wood, have added the year ’99 beneath their names, while Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood have inscribed ‘To Jimmy’ above their names. The signatures are bold, unusually complete, and well-placed. It is obvious this guitar was signed in a controlled environment for someone close to the band. With the Rolling Stones’ security ranked among the most stringent in the world, it would be a near impossible task to have a guitar of this caliber signed, at the same time, by all four members of the Stones, especially with signatures of this high quality. Included with the guitar is a Bridges to Babylon World Tour 97/98 All Access Tour Staff laminate, which provided total access throughout the entire world tour. (The pass alone is quite rare!). Following the conclusion of the Bridges to Babylon tour and a short break for the holidays, this guitar is believed to have been signed after the band reconvened for rehearsals in early January 1999 at the onset of the North American leg of the No Security Tour.
Following the enormous success of the Bridges to Babylon tour, where the band played to crowds of up to 100,000, the Stones opted for a more scaled-down tour with crowds of less than 20,000. Dubbed the No Security Tour, which kicked off in January 1999, the Stones played smaller venues, with fewer special effects, concentrating on the music and the band.
The guitar features a 3-Tone vintage Sunburst finish and rosewood fretboard. Worth noting, Keith Richards famously played a similar 1959 Fender Stratocaster Sunburst guitar on the Rolling Stones 1972 U.S. Tour in promotion of ‘Exile on Main Street.’ Ronnie Wood has also played a similar 1955 Fender Stratocaster Sunburst since joining the Rolling Stones in 1975. Authentically signed guitars by all four members of the Rolling Stones are quite rare and desirable, and this is a stunning example, boasting a close association to both Richards and Wood. The guitar is accompanied by its original black hardshell travel case.
