A real beauty straight from the hands of future immortals at the 1935 Mid-Simmer Classic in Cleveland, Ohio. This Reach official American League (Harridge) sphere has been anointed by sixteen of the twenty-one American League All-Stars, including all nine starting players.
The best panel of the baseball, in terms of both star power and autograph strength, is the panel to the right of the league stamp, with Hall of Famers Lefty Gomez (5.5/10), Lou Gehrig (6/10), Jimmie Foxx (7/10) and Mickey Cochrane (7/10) in succession. Other Cooperstown residents appearing on the sphere include Al Simmons (jumpy but solid), Chas Gehringer, and Joe Cronin. This amazing exemplar is rounded out by Rollie Hemsley and Schoolboy Rowe on the sweet spot, plus Ben Chapman, Tommy Bridges, Buddy Meyer, Joe Vosmik, Mel Harder, Bob Johnson, and Doc Cramer.
The ball exhibits reasonable aging and, while some of the autographs have understandably faded by different degrees, are all still legible.
