Though the forty-year old slugger was well past his prime during this final season of Major League action, we must remember that it was in the uniform of the Boston Braves that Ruth completed his outrageous career tally of 714 home runs, a record that would stand for nearly four decades until it was bested by a member of the same franchise. Here he poses for a fan's camera, an intriguing one-of-a-kind image that documents the Babe's far less than athletic physique at the end. Later the fan returned to the park with this 2.75x3.75" snapshot for an autograph, which rates 7/10 in black fountain pen ink.
