Among its circles, baseball's August establishment has dismissed the 1960 Pirates as a lot unworthy of a world crown. Few would quarrel with that position. But as the Bucs matured through that decade, they arrived upon the 1971 season armed to quiet all critics. Clemente and Stargell registered monstrous numbers, but their supporting cast enjoyed banner seasons as well. Here, then, are those World Champion Pittsburgh Pirates of 1971 — seventeen of them — who penned their proud identities to this Pittsburgh Pirates souvenir model baseball. These signatures are all "8-10" in quality, and they detail — Danny Murtaugh (clubhouse on sweet spot,), Roberto Clemente, Willie Stargell, Dock Ellis, Al Oliver, Manny Sanguillan, Gene Cline, Jose Pagan, Bob Robertson, Luke Walker, Charlie Sands, Milt May, Bruce Kison, Steve Blass, Gene Alley, Bob Veale and Ramon Hernandez. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
