Among its circles, baseball's august establishment has dismissed the 1960 Pirates as a lot unworthy of a world crown. We have no quarrel with that position. But as the Bucs matured through that decade, they arrived upon the 1971 season armed to quiet all critics. Clemente and Stargell registered monstrous numbers, but their supporting cast enjoyed banner seasons as well. Here, then, are those World Champion Pittsburgh Pirates of 1971 — twenty-nine (29) of them — who penned their proud identities to this official National League (Feeney) baseball. These signatures are a collective "7-8" in quality, and they detail: Roberto Clemente, Willie Stargell, Bill Mazeroski, Dock Ellis, Al Oliver, Don Osborn, Dave Cash, Manny Sanguillen, Luke Waker, Don Leppert, Bob Miller, Richie Hebner, Jose Pagan, Nelson Briles, Dave Giusti, Bob Johnson, Steve Blass, Ramon Hernandez, Jackie Hernandez, Rennie Stennett and others. Ball exhibits uniform toning but is otherwise fine. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
