For many reasons, the 1995 New York Yankees baseball team should be considered one of the most important years in Yankee history. With the true rookie seasons of two of the greatest of all time, Mariano Rivera & Derek Jeter, no one could have predicted what was next for the Yankee franchise. With a lackluster season that saw Don Mattingly hang up the pinstripes on a 79-65 squad, needless to say there wasn't much demand for team signed Yankee baseballs that year. With only 15 appearances for Jeter & 19 for Rivera, and the two only playing in the same game three times during the '95 campaign, anything signed by these two dating back to 1995 is of the utmost rarity. The consignor notes the ball was signed in early June of 199,5 for their sick child. This is one of only a handful of 1995 team signed baseballs to bare both Rivera & Jeter's signature, as from May 29th-June 11th was practically the only time the two were stables on the bench that year. With this ball being fresh to the hobby & never offered for public sale, we were only able to find one other example beaing both legends from the '95 season to date. This official Major League Gene Budig baseball has been signed by twenty five (25) members of that historic 1995 team with the notables starting with three of the "Core Four's" true rookie signatures in Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera & Andy Pettitte. Other notables include Don Mattingly, Wade Boggs, Buck Showalter & many more. With a short two week timespan of possible grouped play by these legends, the rarity of this offer cannot be stressed enough. The ball itself remains in fine condition with light toning & fading to the right panel, as the ball was displayed as a personal relic until this offering.
