As far as major sporting markets are concerned, one of the fastest growing leagues in popularity in the World in none other than United States own Major League Soccer (MLS). One of the driving forces behind the increased popularity is Soccer legend, David Beckham. When Beckham signed his unprecedented 5 year 250 million dollar deal with the Galaxy in 07, no one had any idea it would pay off so handsomely for the former Premier League star. Since the days of Pele & the Cosmo's the States has not had a soccer star even close to Beckham, but not even Pele would make the impact Beckham has for the sport in the US.
Beckham's first start for the Galaxy would come on July 21st 2007. The Galaxy played at the New York Red Bulls and sported their blue long-sleeve road jerseys. Beckham assisted on two goals in a 5-4 loss, and this could very well be the actual jersey he wore in his first MLS start! With the galaxy only wearing this jersey twice during that season, this significant "rookie" jersey stands as one of only a possible four that were ever worn in this style by Beckham.
