A piece of Abraham Lincoln’s Blood-Stained Sheet from his death chamber, April 14, 1865, 5.” x .25,” and encapsulated in a CAG holder measuring 2.25” x 3.25.” Accompanied by four pages of background provenance paperwork detailing its lineage which included revered old-time autograph dealer Mary Benjamin and later Alexander’s Auction. The copy of Benjamin’s letter reads, in part: “It is a piece of linen sheet taken from Lincoln’s deathbed in the Petersen house. It came to me with the Charles K. Tuckerman papers. Tuckerman…was our First Minister to Greece (1868-1872. He was in Washington at the time of Lincoln’s death…it was included in an album of his letters, bearing his authentication.” Also included is a copy of the authentication note from Tuckerman. A historical piece and one the first of its kind to come to market nicely presented in a CAG holder.
