Released on January 25, 1994, Alice in Chains' "Jar of Flies" was the first acoustic EP in music history to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, with the first week sales exceeding 141,000 copies in the United States. The self-produced record was written and recorded over the course of just one week at the London Bridge Studio in Seattle. The tracks "No Excuses", "I Stay Away" and "Don't Follow" were released as singles to promote the EP. Jar of Flies was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 1995: Best Recording Package and Best Hard Rock Performance for "I Stay Away". The release was well received by critics and has been certified quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), making Jar of Flies one of the band's most successful releases.
Presented here is an original pressing of the acclaimed 1994 AIC release, handsomely signed in felt tip marker across the cover by all four members of the band, including Jerry Cantrell, Mike Inez, Sean Kinney and the late Layne Staley. The cover exhibits some minor wear along the edges and some slight handling wear as expected with the difficulties of obtaining in-person autographs, and the cover stands in overall fine condition. Given Layne Staley's relentless struggle with addiction and reclusive nature for the last several years of his life, group signed albums from this band are among the rarest of the Seattle grunge icons.
Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
