Historic pair of fragments from the Pyramid and Sphinx: piece of mortar from between the blocks of one of the pyramids at Giza (.25” x .25”) and a piece of shell (1” x 1”) collected from the Sphinx, having weathered out of the limestone. Beautifully framed with a vintage “Keystone View Company” photograph of the Sphinx and pyramids and an engraved plaque, reading in part, “Both obtained in the 19th Century but date from 2,500 BC.” Accompanied by a copy of an auction listing from University Archives, which pictures the original 1895 label that accompanied the larger pieces of these relics. Quite the presentable combination piece celebrating Ancient Egypt.
