The 1936 Mid-Summer Classic would be a star studded event with legends like Lou Gehrig, Jimmy Foxx, A youthful rookie named Joe Dimaggio and Dizzy Dean amongst others gracing the diamond. Also in presence fresh off his retirement in 1935, would be Babe Ruth & future hall-of-famer Burleigh Grimes. Despite three straight wins, the American League would fall to the National League that day with a final score of 3-2. Offered here is an extremely scarce 1936 Goldsmith Official League Baseball signed on the sweet spot by Lou Gehrig in blue steel tip pen along with others from that day. Gehrig sweet-spot signed baseballs remain one of the hardest to acquire in the entire hobby due to his humble nature. Along with Gehrig, 8 others signed this ball including Babe Ruth, Leo Durocher, Lefty Gomez, Lefty Groove, Jimmie Foxx, Joe Dimaggio, Joe Cronin, and Burleigh Grimes. All signatures remain in good condition rating between “5-8” with Gehrig’s being the strongest. Grove, Foxx and Dimaggio’s signatures have been determined to be clubhouse. The ball remains in good condition & is surprisingly creaming in appearance with minor spotting. An impressive piece of baseball history suitable as a centerpiece for any baseball collector. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
