This 5.75" x 7.25" Letter, dated March 29th, 1853, has been personally signed by Jefferson Davis. The letter written to US Army Colonel & Future Confederate General R.J. Archer reads in part:

"...Your confidence in the President is I am sure well deserved and if you knew him personally I am quite certain you would find him in all things a man after your heart. He is prompt, manly & sincere. With a keen perception of character and a most happy mode of dealing with men of various character and temper. He is sound on all our Constitutional questions and can never be driven from what his sense of truth and justice indicates. Such is my opinion and such I think events will prove to be our Democratic President. With sincere regard your friend Jefferson Davis."

The letter has two horizontal creases but remains in fine condition. Comes authenticated and encapsulated by Beckett Authentication Services.
