Swatch of orange inflatable life raft, measuring 1” x 1.25,” believed to be from Francis Gary Powers’ U-2 Jet. The item comes directly from Powers’ son, Francis Gary Powers, Jr., public speaker and authority on the U-2 incident and Cold War History. The life raft is believed to be the original raft from Francis Gary Powers’ U-2 jet on the day he was shot down over the Soviet Union on May 1st, 1960. Nicely presented and affixed to an 8.5" x 11" quality cardstock display sheet featuring an image of Powers on Time magazine. Accompanied by a copy of the letter of provenance, detailing the history behind the inflatable life raft and a printout of an image of the complete original life raft.
