1 of only a scant few privately signed officially licensed Heath Ledger "Dark Knight" Photos Known to Exist!
Presented here for your bidding consideration is quite frankly one of the rarest, most impressive modern Hollywood autographs that we've ever had the privilege to auction. This 8" x 10" color photograph features a terrific image of Heath Ledger from his legendary, Oscar-winning role as The Joker in "The Dark Knight", beautifully hand signed and inscribed in black felt tip marker, "Big Smile! Heath Ledger." The photo is well preserved and in excellent condition and features an official Warner Bros/DC Comics label on the reverse. This is, undoubtedly, as nice as any example known to exist!
A lab stamping shows the photograph was printed on October 23, 2007. Almost 3 months later, Ledger would tragically die of an overdose on January 22, 2008.
Given that Ledger passed nearly 6 months prior to the Dark Knight's release, this photo is one of only a dozen or so authentic examples known to exist, with most of the photos signed during that period being rushed and sloppy autographs for in-person collectors. This photograph represents one of only a scant few examples that were generated by the movie studio at Ledger's request and signed for key crew members that he worked with during the production of the film. Prior to this sale, only 3 of those privately signed photos had surfaced publicly. And, is one of the finest signed Heath Ledger Joker photos in existence.
