Before his number "42" was retired by every team in baseball; before his election to Baseball's Hall of Fame; before he won the MVP award in 1949; before he was named the first ever Rookie of the Year in 1947; and before he starred in football at UCLA, Jackie Robinson began his sports career at Pasadena Junior College. This is the yearbook for Pasadena Junior College for the year 1937. It is signed by a host of graduates and faculty. The lucky student who passed it around for signatures obtained the signature of the school's star athlete, Jack Robinson, above his image as shortstop on the baseball team. The signature accomplished by Robinson isin a blue fountain pen ink - "Best of luck and success, Jack Robinson". Although the cover has been detached from the spiral bound spine, it still rests nicely on top of the rest of the book, and the remainder of this vintage gem stands otherwise fine. Excellent early signature from the Brooklyn Dodger great! Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
