John Gotti was perhaps the last of a passing breed, a larger-than-life mob figure who enjoyed the limelight and celebrity status afforded him by the media. Nicknamed first the "Dapper Don" for his elegant style, and later the "Teflon Don" due to his numerous acquittals, Gotti's name today is as familiar to the American public as that of Al Capone, Lucky Luciano or Bugsy Siegel. After numerous failed attempts to prosecute him, he was finally convicted in 1992 under RICO charges in Brooklyn's federal district court. Sentenced to life in prison without parole, he eventually succumbed to cancer on June 10, 2002.

Offered here are two segments of an envelope panel handwritten by the Mob boss himself, including a panel that is signed, "Gotti, 18261-053," with Gotti noting his inmate number along with his autograph. Both panels are handsomely double-matted along with two images of Gotti and two silver engraved descriptive plaques. Housed in an attractive rosewood lacquer frame display, measuring 24" x 15" overall. A couple minor scuffs are visible on the frame, otherwise the display is in fine condition. COA from PSA/DNA.
