Easily one of the rarest John Lennon pieces we've seen, Beatles memorabilia expert Perry Cox has described it saying "Perhaps the only vintage David Peel/John Lennon signed publicity photo there is.  Certainly the only one I've verified to date."

The photograph shows John & Yoko's back-up band, 'Elephants Memory Band' playing behind the pair, with David Peel, a New York City underground movement legend who was not a member of the group, at stage right.  Lennon befriended Peel and "re-discovered" him in 1971, producing his extremely controversial album, "The Pope Smokes Dope" which was banned in many countries and is now sought after.

Lennon has signed his full name in blue ballpoint pen in the area between Yoko Ono and David Peel.  The signature does have some contrast difficulties with the background, but is strong.  The signature has been dated by both experts to the early 1970's, and measures 4-1/2" long.  David Peel adds his signature in black felt tip pen below the Apple Records footer in the lower right hand portion of the photo.  Overall size of the photo is 8" x 10" and has an approximately 1" tear coming down from the top that has been taped closed from the back, not affecting the image or the signatures.  Overall in very good condition, showing some handling and aging.

Comes with 2 Letters of Authenticity from world-renowned Beatles experts Frank Caiazzo and Perry Cox.
