Offered here is a partly-printed five page land patent document, signed “J. Q. Adams,” dated August 4, 1821. As secretary of state, Adams certifies that “the annexed six pages of writing are a true copy of ‘An Act for granting Lands to the Inhabitants and Settlers at Vincennes, and the Illinois Country, in the territory northwest of the Ohio, and for confirming them in their possessions’ the same having been duly compared with the original roll, deposited for safe-keeping in the office of the Department of State.” Written in Adams' hand and signed boldly at the conclusion. The white paper seal and ribbon affixed to the lower left remain intact, and portions of the annexed pages remain attached. In good condition, with complete ragged separation along the top fold, the document could be professionally restored to make an intact piece; Adams’s signature is in a clean area, and very dark in comparison with other documents. The document goes onto describe the Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
