In the American imagination, the founding era shimmers as the golden age of political discourse, a time when the common man held their ground & helped pioneer this great country. George Washington & Thomas Jefferson shared an extensive amount of time together during those golden years, helping to provide the backbone of the government we have today. One a simple man, a planter/soldier of no formal education, the other a philosopher, inventor and enrollment in the College of William and Mary. Despite the differences of these two great leaders, some of their best works came during their time together in the late 1700's. Helping to inspire such staples as The Bill of Rights, The 11th/12th Amendment & of course the Declaration of Independence. This seldom seen offering features the two founding fathers together c.1794. This partial 9.5" x 10" three langues ships papers has been signed at the conclusion by both George Washington & Thomas Jefferson, who adds, "By The President" between his name & Commander & Chief Washington. Dated July 12th, 1794 for the ship Lark departing from Charleston with linens, rice, butter, beef and other goods. Overall in fine condition with horizontal & vertical folds, some passing through the signatures, minor staining & handling wear. Easily one of the highest quality document segments we have ever handled! Authenticated by James Spence Authentication (JSA) with a full letter of authenticity
