Nice partly-printed vellum document, 12.5” x 9.5,” boldly signed at the conclusion by President James Monroe, and countersigned by Commissioner of the General Land Office Josiah Meigs. For military service, the President grants "Ira Remington” one hundred and sixty acres in the territory of Illinois, on the “Twenty fourth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen.” In very good to fine condition with expected age wear, including some creasing and soiling. Monroe signature remains especially bold and clean.
