Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States, serving from 1861 until his assassination in April 1865. Offered here is a Civil War era military commission dated February 21, 1862, signed nicely at the bottom by President Lincoln and countersigned by Secretary of War, Edwin M. Stanton. The blue Presidential seal is still fully intact and the document is in overall great condition with intersecting horizontal and vertical folds. Both signatures stand out strong, with Lincoln's especially being nice, clear, and dark and showcasing a full "Abraham Lincoln" scripting. The document has been handsomely framed, with the visible area of the document measuring 13" x 17" and the overall size of frame checking in at 20" x 24". A fantastic display piece commemorating one of the greatest Presidents in U.S. history.
