Incredibly rare Charles G. Hagedorn photograph of Marilyn Monroe circa The Seven Year Itch, 1954. Pristine black and white photograph, 5” x 7," printed later; with copyright stamp on verso. This incredibly rare, crystal-clear photo pictures Marilyn sitting and smiling whilst holding a glass of wine and surrounded by admirers. Despite its wholesome nature at first glance, this is particularly rare, risqué and revealing shot, as upon closer examination, one may notice something missing beneath Miss Monroe’s dress. In fine condition.
This virtually unobtainable photo is bolstered by impeccable provenance. Originally sent to Frank Read directly from Hagedorn Communications Corporation, a company that was started by the American photographer Charles G. Hagedorn (1918-1997). Despite being one of several hundred photographers of Marilyn Monroe, Hagedorn’s photographs are without question some of the rarest in existence. Through our research, we have only seen a single photograph that hit the market in the last thirty (30) years, which sold for $6,600.00 on June 16, 2007. The pinnacle of Marilyn image rarity in relation to perhaps her most iconic moment. Provenance: Charles G. Hagedorn, New York, New York; Frank Reade; A Private Collector; Fairfield Auction, LLC, Monroe, Connecticut.
