Whitey Bulger, convicted murderer and organized crime boss in Boston, signed the reverse of this 4" x 6" mug shot of another Alcatraz inmate Walter Mollett, who was beaten and choked to death by another inmate (Jack Twining) on February 12, 1959, with a lengthy descriptive story! Bulger served in Alcatraz from 1959 to 1962 with the prisoner number 1428. Reads, in part, "Mollet - 'Sexual Predator' - targeted wrong convict 'Jack Twining'. Twining saved notes M. wrote & threw in his cell - Threats etc - Twining saved them as evidence of why he had to kill this animal in self defence. Then Jack killed M. in laundry - hit him chop to throat, choked him unconscious a few times then told him 'Now you die' he bashed his brains out on a cut off pipe and ripped his eyes out then leaped up and down on M.'s body. FBI agents investigated Jack had many defense witnesses - no witness for Prosecution." A creepy but intriguing story! In overall fine condition. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
