Substantial Campo del Cielo meteorite, weighing 12.8 kilos and measuring approximately 9” x 6.5” x 6.5.” Campo del Cielo "Field of Heaven" is an iron meteorite—once the molten core of a long-dead asteroid—that crashed into our planet in a catastrophic series of explosions about 5,600 years ago. Literal tons of this dense meteorite (93% iron and 7% nickel) hammered our planet like an anvil, carving at least 26 separate craters from the solid of the modern-day South America. The largest Campo del Cielo meteorite weighs over 30 tons and is regarded as a natural treasure in Argentina. Discovered by the Spanish in 1576, Campo del Cielo is one of the oldest known meteorites on Earth. This is an impressively sized individual with a marvelous shape.
Accompanied by an Aerolite Meteorites COA. Aerolite, one of the world’s most well-respected meteorite companies, was founded by Geoff Notkin, who famously starred in the TV show “Meteorite Men.”
