Amazing piece of Northwest Africa (NWA) 13360 Mars meteorite, weighing 14.9 grams and measuring approximately 56 mm x 47 mm x 2 mm. We know that pieces of Mars fell on Earth because of the robot Viking spacecraft that landed on the Martian surface in 1976. Six years after those landings, Drs. Johnson and Bogard made an astonishing discovery while analyzing a meteorite found in Antarctica in 1979: tiny amounts of gas trapped within vugs in the rock were a close match to the thin atmosphere of Mars, as recorded by the Viking landers.

NWA 13360 is one such meteorite, purchased in 2020 by a Moroccan dealer. It’s classified as a Shergottite Martian meteorite; shergottites are igneous rocks, meaning they likely formed when magma or lava on Mars cooled and solidified. This is an exceptional laboratory prepared slice with green and grey mottled face.

Accompanied by an Aerolite Meteorites COA. Aerolite, one of the world’s most well-respected meteorite companies, was founded by Geoff Notkin, who famously starred in the TV show “Meteorite Men.”
