Exceptionally crisp and bold 10” x 15.25” manuscript court document from the City of Washington in the District of Columbia signed by both James Monroe and John Quincy Adams. The document, dated January 8, 1818, reads, in part: “Isaac Butler was convicted of a crime of manslaughter…but that by reason of his extreme poverty…I James Monroe, President of the United States..fully and entirely exonerating and discharging from payment of the fine.” Countered-signed by then Secretary of State and future President John Quincy Adams. In fine condition, with white seal affixed to lower left. Matted and framed with an image of each President to an overall size of 20.75” x 21.75.” Accompanied by a JSA LOA.
