Military Commission document on vellum, 15.75” x 19.75” dated March 12, 1868, and signed by President Andrew Johnson. The partly-printed document appoints Royal B. Bradford as “Master of the Navy.” In fine condition, with expected folds. Official blue seal is present, and the document is also countersigned by Secretary of the Navy Gideon Welles. A wonderfully preserved, scarce offering as these Johnson commissions are usually encountered bearing stamped signatures, with this one having a seldom-seen and impressive live-ink autograph.
