Roberto Clemente serves as a fabled figure in sports even to this day. With his extensive charity work & uncommon road to the Majors through the Puerto Rican league, Clemente was bigger than the game itself in nearly every regard. Due to Clemente's untimely death in 1972, signed items in any format are scarce, but oddly enough signed photos such as this offering remain a much rarer medium than even the highly coveted single signed spheres. This 3.5" x 5" color candid photo dated 7-20-63 displays arguably Clemente's most feared attribute, his batting. Winning an amazing 4 National League batting championships over his career, Clemente is seen in this image with his lumber casually tossed over his shoulder as he presumably awaits a practice pitch. Signed in blue ballpoint by Clemente with a good signature strength. Some toning to the reverse and some handling wear, with the date being written in an unknown hand. A unique photograph of Clemente! Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
