A three-way playoff over four holes would decide the winner for the first time in Open Championship history, at Royal Troon Golf Club in Scotland. American Mark Calcavecchia bested Greg Norman and Wayne Grady to become the 1989 Champion Golfer of the Year. Calcavecchia was witnessed by millions around the sports world accepting the Claret Jug, wearing his black and white striped Sunday red FILA collared XXL shirt. Thirty years after that memorable day, that very shirt that Mark Calcavecchia picked out and wore during the final round of his Open Championship. Vibrant in color, it has been preserved as to not succumb to fading or aging. Mark Calcavecchia's signed letter of provenance will be included in this lot. Originally sourcing direct from Calcavecchia himself and accompanied by his personal Letter of Provenance.
