"...the southerner likes a negro, not the negro." -Controversial words penned in the hand of Ty Cobb

Offered here is a handsome copy of one of the most popular pro-slavery books of all time,"Eneas Africanus" (released in 1919), about a slave in 1865 who travels about and apparently misses his previous owners. Ty Cobb, known for being a bit prickly, has signed the inside page of the book with an interesting, if not troubling, inscription: "Mr. Holden: Note Author's preface, remember the southerner likes a negro, not the negro. Hope you enjoy this book. Ty Cobb". Cobb penned all of this in flowing blue ink with a terrific autograph. A one-of-a-kind item from the Georgia Peach, this is an intriguing insight into Cobb's views and an interesting item to come on the market in the current time. In fine condition with some handling wear to the dust cover. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
