Federal Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis, photographed at the opening game in Chicago while rooting for a hit. The new High Commissioner of organized baseball was a rabid fan and never missed a game if his duties permitted him to be on hand.
Kenesaw is remembered for his handling of the Black Sox Scandal, in which he expelled eight members of the Chicago White Sox from organized baseball for conspiring to lose the 1919 World Series and repeatedly refused their reinstatement requests. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in a special vote soon after his death on Nov. 25, 1944.
International Newsreel B&W Photo is 6.5" x 8.5" and is in overall fine condition with normal handling wear.
