Solid sterling silver plates were given to team members during NY Yankees Old Timers Day on July 27, 1957. They were made to honor new HOF members Joe McCarthy & Samuel Crawford and their enshrinement into Baseball’s Hall of Fame. This specific plate was presented to Oscar Vitt. The plate is 11” in diameter, stamped “STERLING” on the back and has an embossed NY Yankees logo on top. The text is engraved. The 1957 HOF Class enshrined two members: outfielder Sam Crawford, who had 2961 hits from 1899 to 1917, and Joe McCarthy, who managed the New York Yankees to eight pennants in sixteen seasons, with seven World Series titles including four consecutive championships (1936–1939). A formal induction ceremony was held in Cooperstown, New York, on July 22, 1957, with Commissioner of Baseball Ford Frick presiding. Shows some tarnishing and has marks which can all be seen in the photographs. Has some bends as the edges are thin.
