The Only Authentic Group Signed Example of "Sell Out" Known to Exist!

Here is a beautifully signed UK issue of The Who's third studio album, "Sell Out" released 15 December 1967. The cover is divided into four panels - two on each side - featuring oversized faux-advertising images with each band member by celebrated photographer David Montgomery. Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey have signed by their respective images, with Roger adding the dedication, "To Brian / All the best." Although the majority of Townshend's signature appears in a shaded area - across the can of Heinz Baked Beans and Daltrey's upper torso - the signature is a beautiful and complete vintage example. Keith Moon and John Entwistle have signed by their respective images, with Keith signing twice. Keith's first signature did not take, though the indentation clearly remains. Each of the band members have signed in blue ballpoint pen. The album was signed for Bristol-based music journalist Brian K. Jones, and includes a letter from his widow. The autographs were likely obtained in Bristol on 8 January 1968 when the band played the Silver Blades Ice Rink in promotion of the "Sell Out" album. This is an extremely rare first issue mono copy of the album with the "Free Psychedelic Poster Inside" sticker on the cover. The poster was included with the first 500 UK mono copies. This example includes the original mono pressing and original 6-panel fold-out poster. Unsigned first issue mono pressings, including the poster and sticker, are highly coveted by collectors. The psychedelic-pop classic, "Sell Out," represents The Who's first concept album and yielded The Who's only U.S. top ten single with "I Can See For Miles." Who signed albums are exceedingly scarce and, to date, this is the only fully-signed copy of "Sell Out" known to exist.

Accompanied by full Letters of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA) and music memorabilia authority Tracks UK, as well as a Letter of Provenance.
