Super rare US album “The Man Who Sold The World" signed in 1971 in black ink by David Bowie. Records are included. Accompanied by a full LOA from Roger Epperson/REAL. In very good condition, with overall wear, including a tape repair to bottom edge touching a portion of signature.

This album, Bowie’s third studio release, marked a shift toward hard rock, with elements of the blues, and included darker lyrics than previous expressed. Originally titled “Metrobolist,” a play on the film “Metropolis” (1927), the name was changed at the last minute by Mercury records without Bowie’s consultation. Released with different cover artwork in the US than in the UK, the US example—offered here—featured a cartoon-like drawing of a cowboy in front of an asylum by Michael J. Weller based on an image of John Wayne. Unenthusiastic about the artwork, Bowie enlisted Keith MacMillan to shoot an alternate option, and the final image of Bowie wearing a blue dress was used as the cover for the UK issue. All this renders the here-offered original US album vintage period signed by Bowie of the utmost scarcity.
