Buddy Holly and The Crickets were an influential rock and roll band from the 1950s. They were signed to Coral Records, which was a subsidiary of Decca Records. In 1957, Buddy Holly and The Crickets signed a recording contract with Decca Records. However, the band's breakthrough came with their recordings for Coral Records, another label under the Decca umbrella. Coral Records released their biggest hits, including "That'll Be the Day," "Peggy Sue," and "Oh, Boy!" "That'll Be the Day" was the group's first major hit, reaching number one on the Billboard charts in 1957. It was followed by several other successful singles, establishing Buddy Holly and The Crickets as one of the leading acts of the rock and roll era.

Unfortunately, Buddy Holly's life was tragically cut short in a plane crash on February 3, 1959, along with fellow musicians Ritchie Valens and J.P. Richardson (also known as "The Big Bopper"). This event is often referred to as "The Day the Music Died."

Despite their relatively short career, Buddy Holly and The Crickets had a profound impact on the development of rock and roll music. Their influence can be heard in the work of countless artists who followed in their footsteps. Coral Records continued to release posthumous material from Buddy Holly after his death, including previously recorded tracks and compilations. The music of Buddy Holly and The Crickets remains cherished by fans and continues to inspire new generations of musicians
