Early Nirvana Band Signed Promo Poster with Exceptional Provenance & Original Ticket to the Show!
One of the coolest pieces of Nirvana memorabilia we've had the honor to handle, offered here is an original 17" x 11" cardstock promotional poster for Nirvana's appearance on October 23, 1991 at After the Gold Rush concert venue in Tempe (AZ) handsomely signed by Kurt Cobain, Krist Novolselic and David Grohl in black felt tip marker.
This piece has come to us as a local consignment, sourced direct from the husband of the woman who designed the poster for Evening Star Productions (the company that promoted the show). Accompanied by a detailed and notarized letter of provenance which reads, in full:
This concert poster measures 11 X 17" and was autographed by Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl and Kris Novoselic on October 23, 1991 . My late wife Julie Hurm was working at Evening Star, the company that promoted the concert. She took part in designing the poster and met with the band in person before they played to have them sign it. When she handed the poster to Kurt Cobain he clenched the permanent marker in a fist and signed. She asked him to sign others and he said "Nope, that's it". This show took place just a month after the album Nevermind was released and the venue After the Gold rush had a maximum capacity of 750. The show sold out in advance.
In addition to the Letter of Provenance, also accompanying the item is an original ticket stub from the show.
The poster exhibits some minor handling wear in the lower right hand quadrant, not affecting the signatures or the poster's overall superb appearance. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
