Michael Jackson, often referred to as the "King of Pop" for having transformed the art of music videos and paving the way for modern pop music, had an unparalleled worldwide influence over the younger generation. His influence extended beyond the music industry, impacting dance, leading fashion trends, and raising awareness for global affairs. He is considered one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century. Jackson and his contributions to music, dance, and fashion, along with his publicized personal life, made him a global figure in popular culture for over four decades.

Despite his enormous success, his career and personal life were riddled with hardship and controversy. His father allegedly abused him as a child star in the Jackson 5, which some argue led to many of his future problems. In the mid-1980s, his skin began growing paler after being diagnosed with a condition characterized by patches of the skin losing their pigment. This diagnosis led him to start using skin-bleaching creams to cover up the uneven blotches caused by the illness. He also began losing weight and turning to cosmetic procedures such as rhinoplasty to preserve his physical image. In the early 1990s, he developed an addiction to painkillers that continued until his untimely death from an overdose of propofol and benzodiazepine.

Because of such issues, it is often forgotten that, on top of everything, Michael Jackson was a great musician. He influenced artists across many music genres and popularized dance moves such as the moonwalk and the robot. He is the most awarded individual music artist in history. For better or worse, he is rooted solidly in pop culture history, and his memorabilia is highly desirable to collectors.

Offered is a pair of custom-made Supadance shoes worn by Michael Jackson. The black shoes feature the "SUPADANCE" logo and "MADE IN ENGLAND" in gold on the sole of each shoe. The shoes show excellent evidence of wear, with the soles featuring scuffing and creases on the toe box. The shoes come with an LOA from Frank Cascio, Michael Jackson's longtime manager, with Cascio's signature verified by James Spence Authentication (JSA).
