One of the most beloved men to ever put on the Pinstripes, Thurman Munson was considered by many to be the heart and soul of the Yankees teams of the 1970s. Similar to the transition between DiMaggio & Mantle, Munson was on track to be the next generational player for the Yankees. In spite of being an immensely popular star in the biggest baseball market in the largest city in the world during the modern age of autograph collection, Munson's untimely passing in 1979 has made single signed baseballs graced by the former Yankees catcher an extreme rarity. With a career that left many wondering what could have been, Munson signed baseballs in any format are scarce, with signle signed Official American League balls on the sweet spot being the pinnacle. Presented here is an amazing OAL (MacPhail) c. 1977 baseball signed on the sweet spot in blue ballpoint by the first team captain of the Yankees since Lou Gehrig. In overall fine condition with toning throughout and some rubbing to the stamping. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
