Sabo had a standout rookie season in 1988, winning the National League Rookie of the Year Award. He was an integral part of the Reds' World Series championship team in 1990, where he batted .563 in the series against the Oakland Athletics. Sabo was named an All-Star in 1988, 1990, and 1991. Throughout his career, Sabo also played for the Baltimore Orioles and the Chicago White Sox before retiring in 1996. After retiring as a player, he worked as a coach and manager in both amateur and professional baseball.
