Offered here is a pilots head phone earpiece retrieved from plane crash on October 20th, 1977 in Gillsburg, Mississippi. This ear piece belonged to one of the pilots, either captain Walter McCreay, or co-pilot John Gray . Both unfortunately passed away along with band members Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, Cassie Gaines and road manager Dean Kilpatrick. This was recovered at the crash site, three feet deep in the Mississippi soil, in 2021 and has all the proper markings “WM J. Murdock Co., Chelsea, Mass. - Type P-28-CAATC - No. 1200”. This is a museum quality artifact from one of rock and rolls worst tragedies. It comes with plane crash survivor Craig Reeds’ gold leaf, signed COA defining its provenance and Craigs long history with the band.
