Authentic Fully-Signed “In Utero” Promo Poster With Iconic Band Image by Anton Corbijn Capturing Nirvana at Their Peak!
Only The Second Signed Example We’ve Ever Encountered!

Here is an impossibly rare 1993 Nirvana ‘In Utero’-era promotional poster, beautifully signed by the full band – Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl. Cobain (signed "Kurt Cobain") and Grohl (signed "David") have signed in black felt tip pen, while Novoselic has signed in silver paint pen (some blotting to the silver paint in Krist's autograph, as shown). By this point in his career, Novoselic had abandoned the Americanized spelling of his name, Chris, and was using the original Croatian spelling, Krist.

Geffen/DGC Records produced this oversized poster in support of Nirvana’s third and final studio album, ‘In Utero’, released September 13, 1993. The poster was “for promotional use only,” and was not available to the general public.

According to our research, a select few examples of this poster were signed for high level employees of Dreamworks Animation (a company co-founded by Geffen/DGC Records founder David Geffen along with Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg).

This iconic image, shot in Seattle in July 1993 by acclaimed Dutch photographer Anton Corbijn, captures Nirvana at the height of their fame. This would prove to be one of the bands most enduring images. Shortly after the photo session, Corbijn directed the band’s celebrated “Heart-Shaped Box” video, their final promotional clip. Just six months after the release of ‘In Utero’, Kurt Cobain would die tragically on April 5, 1994.

Penned by the band in the fall/winter of 1993 shortly after the album's release, our research has conclusively matched the exhibited Kurt Cobain signature style to other known authentic examples that were done in similar controlled environments during this same period. Cobain--perhaps more than any other artist--had such a varied and ever-evolving signature that pinpointing styles to such things as legal documents is essential to confirming authenticity. As shown in the graphic listed below, the style matches to two separate legal documents dated January of 1994.

Although a number of signed Nevermind-era posters have come to market in recent years, authentic signed Nirvana In Utero promotional posters, such as this, are virtually non-existent--with this example being only the second we've ever seen or handled. This is made all the more desirable due to its stunning visual appeal and extraordinary provenance tied directly to the offices of David Geffen Records. A true museum-quality piece of the highest order! This poster, which measures

Comes with a full Letter of Authenticity from music autograph authority Roger Epperson/REAL Authentication.
