Buddy Holly Signs A $55,000 Promissory Note--Days Before Getting Married--Promising to Pay His Father for Construction on His Property
Document Showcases A Scarely Seen Full "Charles Buddy Holly" Signature!
Document signed "Charles Buddy Holly," one page, 8.5" x 7", August 11, 1958. Promissory note in which Holly agrees to pay his father L. O. Holly a total of $55,000 for "the construction of certain improvements upon that certain lot or parcel of land situated in Lubbock County, Texas, described as follows: Tract 43-E of the Replat of Bobalet Heights, an addition to the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas." Signed at the conclusion in fountain pen. Listing him as "a single man," this land document predates Holly's speedy marriage to Maria Elena Santiago on August 15, 1958, by less than a full week. A fantastic example of Holly's full name, and stands as the first document we've ever seen or handled with this full name signature from Holly.
