Paul Stanley, also known as "The Starman," is the co-founder of the band KISS. Formed in January of 1973 with Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss, the band found commercial fame with their painted faces and theatric live shows that enthralled fans, labeled "The KISS Army," for their devotion to the band. Stanley, the co-frontman and rhythm guitarist for the group, adopted the "Starman" persona-based on his love for stars, reached the height of rock and roll stardom. KISS was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014. With KISS, Stanley has sold over 75 million records worldwide, with KISS holding the title as America's number one Gold record award-winning group with 30 Gold albums to their name.
Presented here is a 39 x 13-inch black Silvertone Sovereign electric guitar used by Stanley for live performances from 2003-2006. One of Stanley's four models by Silvertone, the signature guitar features "SILVERTONE" embossed in silver on the guitar's head. Three silver tuning keys adorn each side of the head of the six-string electric guitar. The neck of the guitar features marble position markers that are separated by metal frets. The guitar's body is black and features silver volume and tone controls, and a silver pickup selector switch. "SEYMOUR DUNCAN" is labeled on the pickups of the guitar in silver lettering. The output jack is located on the outer body of the guitar. The bridge features a silver "STAR" in honor of Stanley's "Starman" stage persona. Stanley signed and inscribed the body of the guitar "You drive us wild we'll drive you crazy Rock + Roll all night and party every day" the lyrics to their hit "Rock And Roll All Nite" with the inscription "This is a stage played guitar" with a silver marker. The signature and inscriptions are bold, and the guitar is in excellent condition and comes with a 43 ½ x 15 ½ -inch black case labeled with a gold "S" inside a circle. The case features stickers labeled "20 lbs", "KISS," and "PAUL STANLEY TOURING BLACK SOVEREIGN." Stanley's stage played guitar onstage from 2003-2006 comes with a Paul Stanley Letter of Provenance which has been authenticated by Beckett Authentication and have provided an LOA.
