This bat was used when he crushed a 2-run home run off New York Mets’ pitcher Dillon Gee to open in the scoring in the top of the first inning at Citi Field on August 25th. This was Cabrera’s 42nd home run of the 2013 season and 363rd of his Hall of Fame-bound career. It was then used for a final time during the September 15th against the Kansas City Royals when it was cracked on a ground out in the bottom of the 7th inning. This bat displays outstanding game use and has the aforementioned crack in the upper handle/lower barrel area. There are ball marks, stitch impressions, white leather scuffs and numerous cleat imprints present on the barrel. There is moderate coating of pine tar present on the upper handle/lower barrel and “24” is handwritten in black marker on the knob, which has a white Maple Leaf sticker affixed. Cabrera’s “24” is handwritten in black marker on the barrel end as well.
